Our massive family decided to escape to the mountains for some well-deserved R&R over the weekend, but failed to decide on which area they were going to. After several hours of deliberation over which place to go to, a little bit of yelling, and lots of sighing in exasperation, I booked some non-refundable rooms and suddenly we were going to Asheville whether we liked it or not.
Returning to the United States has been a bit of a culture shock - which shouldn’t be shocking, considering Food and I opted to return right before the most American of days. Not only was it Independence Day - when all true ‘muricans sing the song of our people by cawing like an eagle (the … Continue reading Party in the USA
Fernweh and I are coffee/hot chocolate/chai latte addicts! Just kidding... we have about 2-3 a week but wanted to compile a list of where we've been. My first trip to Florence was the thing of my dreams. I’d finished AP European history a couple weeks before and considered myself a savant, spouting off Machiavelli this and Michelangelo that. In a single day, I fell in love with the city and its food, the sights, the people. (But mostly the food.) … Continue reading Florence, Italy
Our parents came to visit for a week and we decided to take the opportunity to go to one of the few European countries than none of us had ever visited. My parents have the traveling bug just about as bad as I do, and have a good 25 years on me, so they’ve been … Continue reading Lisbon, Portugal
My first (and hopefully last) Spanish hospital visit began - funnily enough - in Sweden. Doesn’t seem to make any sense, right? Well, after spending a few days in Lund at Valborg, I woke the last day of our being there with weird pains in my right side, which Food summarily dismissed as being “cramps”. … Continue reading Never Have I Ever…
